By unanimous vote, PFSP members voted to ratify the new three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement (Re-opener) reached in June 2014.
In June of 2013, PFSP ratified a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with PPS for the two‑year period of 7/1/13 through 6/30/15. The result of that contract was a 1% increase, as well as steps, for each of the two years affected. Additionally, the District agreed to add $50 per person, per month, to our Health Insurance pool, an amount that has remained stagnant for the last several years. The first of the scheduled increases to your salary occurred last October.
This Spring the District came to us with a Re-Opener package that would extend our Contract to June 30, 2017. You voted unanimously to ratify this new Contract, and the School Board ratified it at their June 23, 2014 meeting.
- An increase to a 1.5% COLA plus step increases for each of the three years of the Contract!
- An 8 percent increase each year, beginning February 2015, to our Health Insurance contribution from the flat $50 annual increase. This equates to $86, $93, and $100, respectively, over the next three years. We believe that the District’s increased contribution to our health insurance pool will better keep pace with the inflation rate of premium costs, which we have seen skyrocket over the past several years.
- In addition to these increases, all Educational Assistants, both Gen Ed and ESL, will move to the basic Salary Schedule (Appendix B) of the Contract, resulting in salary increases. We are delighted with this change, as our EAs, who are currently the lowest paid employees in our bargaining unit, are tremendously deserving of these changes.
The new Contract has been proofed and is currently awaiting printing. Copies will be distributed to Principal/Admin secretaries and Worksite Reps at each school/department site. Additionally, H/R and PFSP will upload it to our respective websites as soon as it's ready.
